The constant stream of lies about the Johnson & Johnson vaccine shows why Americans disbelieve almost everything public health authorities say.
For months, medical and public health experts have been telling us that the three major SARS-CoV-2 vaccines available in the USA are equally effective. However, anybody who does a few minutes of online research discovers such claims are false.
To explain, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates the Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine is 66.3% effective. In contrast, the CDC estimates the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is 95% effective. Meanwhile, the CDC estimates the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is 94.1% effective.
The Johnson & Johnson Vaccine is an inferior product
Consequently, I calculate the Pfizer-BioNTech shot is 28.7% more effective than the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Similarly, the Moderna vaccine, which I have received, provides 27.8% more protection than the Johnson & Johnson offering.
Therefore, people who get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are 28.7% more likely to get COVID-19 than those who use the Pfizer-BioNTech product. Similarly, people who get the Moderna shot are 27.8% less likely to get coronavirus.
I’m not a doctor or a public expert, but people who get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are more likely to die from coronavirus or face hospitalization because of COVID-19. Thus, the Johnson & Johnson/Jansen vaccine is an inferior product that could cause death, disability, and long hospital stays.
Media lies about the Johnson & Johnson vaccine
Yet I constantly see doctors on TV newscasts reassuring us that all three vaccines are equally safe and effective. Worse, I never see journalists challenging this bullshit claim.
Anybody can debunk the doctors’ and public health experts’ claims with a quick glance at the CDC website and a little math. Yet, I never see journalists challenging the “experts’” claims.
Worse, I have never heard a “reporter” ask the doctor telling the public all three vaccines are equally useful, a vital question. The question is, “excuse me doctor, which vaccine did you get and why?”
My suspicion is that most of the doctors claiming vaccine equality received the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna jabs. However, that question will embarrass the authority, so reporters will never ask it. Hence, experts’ feelings and reputations are now more important than truth or public safety in today’s journalism.
Why are the Media and Public Health Experts promoting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine?
The sorry truth the media covers up is that the Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) vaccine is a dangerous, inferior product in comparison with Moderna & Pfizer’s offerings.
Besides being less effective, serious production problems plague the J&J vaccine. Contamination ruined an enormous batch of the Jansenn vaccine at a Baltimore factory in March, The Washington Post reports.
More recently, at least one person could have died from serious blood clots caused by the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The CDC is reviewing seven cases of blood clots, including one fatality, in J&J vaccine recipients.
Thus, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is less effective, harder to produce, and comes with potentially deadly side effects. Hence, we have to ask why are the media and public health authorities promoting it?
How Patents Explain why the Media and Government promote the J&J vaccine
Disgustingly, an urge to protect the patent monopoly and the money the pharmaceutical industry makes from it could be the real motivation for the media and doctor’s embrace of the J&J vaccine.
To explain, Moderna (NASDAQ: MRNA), BioNTech SE (NSDAQ: BNTX), and Pfizer (NASDAQ: PFE) used patented mRNA technology to create their vaccines. All three companies and their stockholders could make enormous amounts of money selling that technology.
However, President Joe Biden (D-Delaware) has the authority to waive patent protections and make the vaccine technology available to manufacturers for free. Abdul Muktadir, the chief executive of Bangladesh’s Incepta pharmaceutical house, claims his company could make 600 to 800 million vials of mRNA vaccines if he had the formula, The Washington Post reports.
Hence, there could be no need for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. We have a better product and the ability to produce enough of that product for widespread use. Unfortunately, waiving mRNA patents could cost Moderna, BioNTech, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) and their stockholders money.
Protecting Corporate Profits
Moreover, waiving the mRNA patents could set a precedent for the President to waive patent protection on many drugs, vaccines, and other products. Hence, Biden, always a loyal corporate Democrat, refuses to take action despite the urging of 170 former world leaders and Nobel Prize winners, Aljazeera notes.
Thus, corporate profits and stock prices are now important than human lives. Worse, an inferior product that costs lives is being pushed on the people. The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) paused use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the United States. Unfortunately, I think there will be pressure to lift the pause and dump the J&J vaccine on the developing world.
China is already causing misery and death by dumping its CoronaVac and other inferior vaccines on countries such as Brazil, The Washington Post reports. Will America follow the same sick strategy to create enemies in order to protect corporate profits?
The Danger to Public Health
I think the Johnson & Johnson vaccine lies pose two enormous dangers to ordinary people and public health.
First, I think some people will die, become disabled, or face hospitalization because they believe the lies about the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. To elaborate, some people will catch coronavirus because the J&J Janssen vaccine offers less protection than mRNA products.
Second, trust in public health authorities will erode and some people will refuse vaccinations because of the news about J&J’s problems. Vaccine deniers and refuseniks can point to the blatantly false claims doctors are making about the J&J shots to justify their case. Some people will get no vaccine and die because of those falsehoods.
America is already facing a public health catastrophe and 582,114 deaths because of our failure to contain COVID-19. One reason for the failure is the widespread refusal to comply with public health mandates about masks and social distancing.
Yes, Dr. Fauci lied about Masks
Public health officials drove that refusal by falsely claiming there was no reason to wear masks early in the pandemic. For example, Reuters reports mask resisters were justifying their actions with a video clip of the sainted Dr. Fauci in October 2020.
“There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask,” Dr. Anthony Fauci says in the clip. The clip comes from an 8 March 2020 broadcast of the respected CBS TV news show 60 Minutes.
Disturbingly, Fauci now admits he knew the mask claim was wrong but he made it anyway, Business Insider reports. Fauci spread the misinformation because he thought it could prevent a shortage of surgical masks. Fauci; the head of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the chief medical advisor to the president, lied about masks on national TV.
The harm from one white lie about COVID-19 by a public health authority was vast. Now, the media is spreading a possibly more destructive lie about COVID-19. The lie is the claim the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is just as good as the mRNA vaccines.
Worse, there was some; I think horrendous, justification for Fauci’s mask lie. There is no justification for the J&J vaccine lies. Instead, so-called doctors and journalists seem to spread falsehoods to protect companies’ stock values.
If America cannot reach herd immunity, because of a low vaccination rate or the lower level of protection from an inferior vaccine. The public health officials and doctors who lie about the J&J vaccine and the journalists who spread the lies will be partially to blame. I have to wonder if we will ever hold those liars and their enablers accountable for that catastrophe.
I have to wonder just how many people have to die and how low popular trust in public health officials, the media, and doctors has to sink for these people to tell the truth. The crisis of confidence Americans have in public health is being driven by the lies spread by the experts themselves.
